Farther Along

I have probably posted this artist before, but Josh Garrels has just released an EP album based on some of his previous work and it is free for download, click here and scroll to the bottom. Josh is a very talented musician with a heart for the Lord. My favorite song, titled “Farther Along” is rather dynamic. Unfortunately it is not on the EP, but you can buy the album it is on, Love and War and the Sea in Between. This song captures the struggles of faith and the joy found only in Christ. How can God and evil exist? Is following Christ about going through the motions? What do we need to be cleansed of through spiritual baptism? How does the realization of the Second Coming change our lives now? How does the light overcome the darkness? In a world of hardships, what is left beside trusting in God? How can we be free? What are the joys of heaven? Where has God put me in His story?

This song is great. A wonderful work of reflection. Listen a couple times, then sing along. Sing loud too. This song, reminds me of something C.S. Lewis once wrote, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” Enjoy.
