“And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife” Revelation 21:9
One of the reasons that God has poured out the Holy Spirit upon the church is to glorify the Bride of Jesus Christ. He is the Husband, and the Church is the Bride, but we are not just any bride, we are a bride engulfed in celestial flame.
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 11:7 that the woman is glory of her husband and in Proverbs 12:4 tells us that a wife is the crown of her husband. Women glorify men, and a good wife makes a man look good. Men are dirt bags, and women are the glory that adorns the dirt. Adam was made from the dirt of the earth, but Eve wasn’t. I always look better with my wife on my arm.
If Christ is the Husband of the church, and He is, then the church’s main objective is to honor and respect her Husband by obeying what He says and calling Him, “Lord.” We are to glorify Him.
When we are faithful and righteous, when we are a bride that stay loyal to our Groom, when we obey His commandments we make our Husband look good. Fidelity is key to keeping covenant.
When we are a faithless bride, not obeying Him, when we cheat on Him with idolatry and adultery, we blaspheme our Husband and give the enemy an opportunity to revile Him.
Pentecost means we are a heavenly bride, and we are to live a life worthy of that calling.
