When we Christians look at the state of our nation, and the church that is complicit in the grievous moral failings of our leaders, we have to remember that we are at war. The world is divided. In Christ or out of Christ. In the Light or in the darkness. In the old humanity or in the new humanity. Forgiven or condemned. Life or death. Neutrality, my friends, is a myth.
All the earth belongs to the King, therefore there is only one Kingdom reigning from heaven to earth. There is no such thing as the kingdom of the Devil arrayed against the Kingdom of Christ. No. Everyone against Christ is a rebel failing to realize the King they are revolting against. There is no great battle between Jesus and the Serpent. Jesus has no equal. All things are under the control of Christ and His foot is on the neck of that Ancient Dragon. His heel is upon all who raise their impotent rebellious fists six feet off the ground toward the heavenly courtroom. That will show Him!
Now, the task of Christians is to kill people. To kill people with the sword. Not a sword of steel, but the sword of the Word of God. This sword is to go forth from the church and her people to slay rebels. Either the Spirit will kill the rebels and raise them to new life making them citizens of Christ’s Kingdom (Matthew 28:18-20 and Romans 6:1-6), or the sword of the Word will be a sentence of death for the unrepentant.
This is the means by which the church overcomes. This is how the government of Christ is established. This is how nations and people bow the knee to the only King of heaven and earth. Everyone must die and they either die in Christ or out of Christ. Only the former death will lead to life. The church cannot be a silent bride. She must declare what her Husband has done, who her Husband is, and what He promises for the world. He promises life and death.
“But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
2 The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone.
3 You have multiplied the nation;
you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
as with joy at the harvest,
as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
4 For the yoke of his burden,
and the staff for his shoulder,
the rod of his oppressor,
you have broken as on the day of Midian.
5 For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult
and every garment rolled in blood
will be burned as fuel for the fire.
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. Isaiah 9:1-7
